The police in Adamawa have restored peace and order after a communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said this in an interview with newsmen in Yola on Tuesday.
The Adamawa government had imposed a 24-hour curfew following the crisis which erupted on Sunday in the area.
Nguroje said the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Bzigu Dali, had arrived the state for an on-the-spot security assessment of the affected communities.
He said the DIG had met with the state deputy bovernor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, and other critical stakeholders to discuss the prevailing security situation and deliberate on necessary measures for a lasting solution.
“The DIG is also expected to hold a high-level strategic security meeting with relevant security and community stakeholders to ensure effective interventions and the maintenance of law and order,” he said.
The measure, he said, aimed to restore peace and harmony for people to go for their normal business in the area.
He urged residents not to take law into their hands, and to report any suspicious people to the security agencies.
