Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, serving at the 9th Mile Division, have arrested two male suspects, Chime Valentine Chidiebere (aged 25) and Alior Jideofor Kenechukwu (aged 30), for alleged armed robbery.
The operatives, on February 6, 2025, acted on credible intelligence and arrested the suspects, recovering a Daylong motorcycle they had snatched from their victim, three locally fabricated guns with two live cartridges.
The police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement in Enugu on Monday, explained that a preliminary investigation revealed that on January 5, 2025, the suspects boarded a commercial motorcycle from Okwojo Ngwo to Amokwe Ngwo, both in Udi LGA. Along the way, they stopped, shot the rider in the left thigh, and fled with the motorcycle.
"However, the police operatives, leveraging intelligence, located and arrested the suspects, recovering the stolen motorcycle, firearms, and the ammunition. The victim is currently recuperating from the gunshot injury.
"Further investigative actions are ongoing to arrest the suspects' accomplices who are still at large, and upon conclusion of investigations, they will be arraigned in court.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, in the state, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has urged residents to continue to be law-abiding, vigilant, and support the police by providing credible and actionable information.
He emphasised that the support would aid the police to sustain the tempo on combating and ridding Enugu State of unrepentant criminals and their activities.
