A 26-year-old man, Olamide Olamilekan, who allegedly conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace was on Thursday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ court in Ogun.
Olamilekan, whose address was not provided, is facing three-count charge of unlawful assembly, damage and breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Insp. E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 22, between 4.20 p.m. and 5.10 p.m at Canaanland Police post, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by constituting a nuisance and assembly unlawfully.
He said that the defendant stole one Iphone 11 pro max, valued at N700,000 belonging to the complainant, Justine Igboba.
The prosecutor added that the defendant also damaged the police cell key, valued at N15,000 when he was trying to escape.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 249(D) 390 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Fadairo said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until June 6, for further hearing.
