Thousands of Muslims in Enugu State joined their counterparts world over to celebrate Eid-El Kabir also known as Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice.
Eid al-Adha is one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar because it is an occasion to celebrate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Isma’il, in submission to Allah’s command.
The festival is usually celebrated with prayers offered on the Eid ground, followed by the ritual slaughter of goats, sheep, cattle or Camel.
In Enugu metropolis, hundreds of Muslim worshippers converged on Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and Islamic Centre in Uwani, Enugu, to observe the two Rakkat prayers to mark the festivities.
