
The Nigeria Students Legislative Council (NSLC), Enugu State Chapter, has honoured the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Aneke Television, an online Television in Enugu, Chief Paschal Onyeka Aneke, with a lifetime award.
They presented him with an award of "Recognition and Support" for his exceptional contributions to youth empowerment, media excellence, and community development.
The group presented the award during the Maiden Edition of the Council's 2025 Inter-Campus Debate, held at Peaceland University, Enugu.
Presenting the award, the president, NSLC, Enugu Chapter, Mr Makata Chukwudi, said the award was a Distinguished Leadership Prize for excellence for individuals who lived exemplified life.
According to him, they are for those who lived for the benefit of others and dedicated themselves to the promotion of education, excellence and good governance.
He described Aneke as humble, benevolent personality and a promoter of excellence.
"So this occasion is to confer honour on a man of substance, defender of the poor, a man with a large heart and in recognition of Aneke's investment in humanity," he added.
He commended Aneke for his dedication to youth empowerment and consistent support to the Council, stressing that the award was to appreciate him for his support to advancement of the objectives of the council.
He urged Nigerians to effect positive change in the society with their substance, talents and gifts.
Responding, Aneke said he was overwhelmed by the recognition and expressed gratitude that the council found him worthy of the award.
Aneke, represented by the Manager of the Aneke Television, Mr Frederick Chibuike China, promised to continue to identify with any initiative that advance humanity and promote skill development.
In an interview, the Majority Leader, Enugu State House of Assembly and member representing Enugu North Constituency, Mr Johnson Ani, described the event as a veritable platform to learn.
He, therefore, called on the students to keep learning to enable them achieve their life chosen careers.
NSLC is a platform that allows students to participate in democratic processes, represent their interests, and advocate for positive change within their educational institutions and communities.
This is done through learning about and engaging in legislative processes, developing leadership skills, and promoting student welfare.
The occasion was well attended by students from other tertiary institutions in Enugu State, friends, professional bodies and civil society groups.
Highlights of the event include the presentation of prizes to winners in the debate competition and awards to some notable individuals who had impacted positively lives of members of the NSLC.
