An Enugu based Foundation, Aneke Paschal Onyeka Care Foundation (APOCF), has distributed free customised exercise books to 1,000 pupils in public primary schools in Enugu South Council Area.
The schools are Amechi Primary School, Awkunanaw and Central School Akwuke, which are located in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Distributing the exercise books, the Programme Officer, APOCF, Mr Obinna Ogbu, said the exercise was part of the foundation's ongoing project to advance education in Nigeria.
He added that it was a way of empowering young pupils to achieve their dreams in life by supporting them with educational materials.
The programme manager explained that the project was for four Council Areas of Ezeagu, Enugu South, Nkanu West, and Nkanu East in Enugu where two primary schools each from them would be supported with exercise books.
"We started today with Amechi and Central School Akwuke and total of over 1000 pupils are going home with 60-leaves exercise books.
"The foundation chose education because it is only thing you give people to impact their lives positively.
"You cannot think of developing a whole man without education. Some of this children has big dreams that needed another to push them through to become what they desires in life.
"So our founder came up with this project to ensure that this pupils realise their dreams," Ogbu said.
He explained that the foundation was created to designed a world where Nigerians would be empowered to become active citizens by creating a brighter future for them.
"Other areas we cover include access to quality education, vocational skills, mentorship opportunities and others.
"For us to achieve this goals, we map out plans such as reaching out to poor in the society especially the indigent students through scholarships," he stressed.
The Head Teacher, Mrs Beatrice Onoh, said she was impressed and grateful for the visit, revealing that the foundation was first group to visit the school since its resumption on May 5.
She thanked the foundation for remembering the school, urging other philanthropist and well-meaning Nigerians to always give back to the society by supporting education.
Also, the Head Boy of the school, Nnamani Humphrey, expressed gratitude to God for the kind gesture, promising that they would put the book in good use.
The foundation is founded and supported by a philanthropist, Chief Paschal Onyeka Aneke, who hailed from Mgbagbuowa in Ezeagu Council Area of Enugu State.
