The Muslim Community in Enugu State has urged Christians to use the 2025 Easter period to seek for peace and religious tolerance to move Nigeria forward.
The Alhaji Suleiman Sule 11, the Sarkin Hausa of Enugu, made the call at a news conference on Saturday in Enugu,.
He said that there was a need for Muslims and Christians to work together to ensure peace in the country.
Sule, represented by a member of the community, Alhaji Yusuf Sarki, also urged Muslims to see Christians as their brothers.
“Lets us come together and embrace one another to ensure peace and harmony.There is nothing like peace and once we are together, we can dialogue in spite of our differences as a people .
“We are calling for cooperation as we are talking to our Muslim brothers to let us remain as one because God has made it that way and to give everyone opportunity to practice his or her religion,” Sule said.
Alhaji Yusuf Omotowo, the President- General, United Inter- Community Forum, Enugu State, described Christianity and Islam as a religion of peace, urging Christians to see them as one.
“Both religions we are practicing are for peace. If there is no peace, there can’t be progress.We want to implore our brothers who are in other religion to see us as their brothers,” he added.
He lauded Gov. Peter Mbah for his administration’s developmental projects that cut across all sectors.
The Chief Imam of Central Mosque, Uwani, Enugu, Abdul-Gannyy Usman, also for unity among tthe different religions in the country.
“In spite of the challenges facing the country, religious bodies should be united to find a common solution,” he said.
