Ahead of 2027 general election, a pro-Gov. Peter Mbah group known as “The Tomorrow Is Here Movement” has vowed to return him to office in 2027.
The group gave the assurance during the Inauguration of “The Tomorrow Is Here Movement” in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the Enugu State Government (SSG),Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, called on members and supporters of Mbah to identify with and actively participate in the Tomorrow Is Here Movement.”
Onyia described the organisation as a tested, trusted, and people-oriented movement that had demonstrated consistency and capacity in promoting the vision and accomplishments of the governor across communities.
The SSG also acknowledged the pioneering role of the National Coordinator of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement, Mr Tony Okonkwo, whose leadership and dedication had positioned the movement as a reliable vehicle for grassroots mobilisation.
He affirmed that the credibility of the movement, under Okonkwo’s guidance gives him confidence that it would play a decisive role in ensuring the continuity of the Mbah administration beyond 2027.
Onyia pledged that he would personally attend future local government inauguration of the movement, demonstrating his commitment to the cause and his belief in the strength of the movement’s structure.
He also commended members of the group for their resilience, passion, and unwavering dedication to promoting good governance and developmental progress in Enugu State.
Earlier, National Coordinator of the movement, Mr Tony Okonkwo stated that the group had continued grassroots integration across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State with the successful inauguration of ward coordinators in Enugu South Council Area.
“This historic event and marks another significant milestone in the consolidation of the movement’s structure and its commitment to strengthening community-based political engagement across the state.
“The inauguration ceremony is a remarkable turn as Onyia officially joined the Movement.
“His presence and declaration of membership further underscored the growing influence and credibility of the movement as a formidable platform for mobilising support for the transformative agenda of the present administration.
“We have reaffirmed our resolve to deepen grassroots engagement, expand its reach, and sustain its momentum across all wards and local governments in the state.
“The successful inauguration in Enugu South stands as a testament to the movement’s growing acceptance and its readiness to continue championing the re-election of Mbah in 2027 for the sustained growth and prosperity of Enugu State,” Okonkwo said.
