Housekeeper jailed 2 years for cheating

A Jos Magistrates’ Court onTuesday sentenced 45-year-old housekeeper, Mak-Henry Lynnto, to two years in prison for breach of trust and cheating.

The convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of breach of trust and cheating brought against him by the police.

The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, sentenced the convict to one year imprisonment for breach of trust or a fine of N25,000 and one year for cheating or N25,000, and ordered that the sentences should run concurrently.

She also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N280,000 to the complainant.

While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the complainant, Mrs Tabitha Ezekiel, reported the case on Oct. 27, 2025.

Gokwat said the convict was given a cash sum of N280,000 for house rent to give to the complainant and he converted to his own personal use.

He said the offences contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
