Lady Nkiru Agbogu, Captain of the Golf section, Enugu Sports Club, says the 10th Enugu Ladies Open Golf Championship is aimed at showcasing female golfers` talents.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 50 female golfers across Nigeria are participating in the championship.
The championship with the theme “Fostering A Sense Of Camaraderie With Golfing” which began on Wednesday, is expected to end on Saturday.
Agbogu said the lady golfers are from different states in Nigeria, adding that on the grand finale, 75 registered male golfers would be part of the game as guest golfers.
“This is so because golf is a game that has both male and female.
“We usually organise this game to showcase talents, skills and network within ourselves.
“It is open for anybody who can pay for the subscription fee and it is being organised once every two years due to paucity of funds.
“The sponsorship of the championship comes from numerous companies, individuals with enough capacity to help us,” she said.
She explained that prizes and trophies would be given out to winners of various categories during the grand finale.
