Edeoga returns to PDP, pledges support to Mbah's administration

The former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Enugu State during the 2023 general election, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga has officially returned to the People's Democratic Party, pledging his total and unalloyed support to the leadership of governor Peter Mbah.

Barr Edeoga had served under PDP in various capacities including Federal House of Representatives member, commissioner for Local Government affairs and commissioner for Environment among other notable positions.

Our Government House Correspondent Fred Nnaji reports that Edeoga commended the governor for his visionary, disruptive and transformative leadership which according to him, birthed his decision to return to the party.

He acknowledged that his decision to return to the PDP would not be appreciated by some disgruntled members of the society, but maintained that it is time to unite as a family and form a formidable front ahead of 2027 elections.

Describing the move as unprecedented as it is going to bring a paradigm shift in the political landscape of Enugu State, Edeoga said Dr Mbah has demonstrated the quality of a leader, thereby putting the opposition parties in jeopardy.

Earlier, Enugu state PDP chairman, Dr Martin Chukwunwike said Edeoga's return to the party is a testament to Dr Peter Mbah's audacious leadership and assured that more aggrieved members who left the party in the past would soon rejoin.

He appreciated Edeoga for nurturing the spirit of oneness and brotherhood which motivated him to think of going back to base.

Also, the Chairman, Isi-uzo Local Government Area, Barr Obiora Obegu described Edeoga's return to PDP as a step in the right direction, saying the party would now move stronger devoid of distractions and rancour.

Other notable members of the labour party accompanied their principal to the PDP secretariat GRA Enugu to cheer him up.
