Dr Somtochukwu Udeze, Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, has called on other Houses of Assembly in the South-East Zone to enact laws that will foster and sustainable regional development in the zone.
Udeze’s call was contained in his congratulatory message to Ohaneze Ndigbo for successful celebration of the 2025 Igbo Day held in Awka made available to journalists by his press secretary, Mr Emma Madu on Tuesday.
He commend the efforts of the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo towards building an egalitarian Igbo nation, adding that with concerted efforts by prominent Igbo citizens Ndigbo will continue to excel in all their endeavors.
Udeze said that the law when enacted will address core and peculiar challenges faced by the zone, especially to provide maximum security of lives and property of the public in the zone.
He urged notable stakeholders in Igbo land to see their roles as a collective responsibility by contributing meaningfully to address the menace of insecurity in the zone through creation of jobs in the zone for the youths.
The Speaker noted with satisfaction the giant contributions of the foremost Igbo nationalists to the growth and development of the country, with particular reference to the first President of Nigeria, Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe among other Igbo patriots.
Udeze praised the “Ohaneze Ndigbo” Worldwide leadership for honouring Anambra Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo with “Okunyeluife Ndigbo” title, (Flame that gives light to Igbo).
He enjoined the people of the zone to rediscover those encouraging Igbo attributes and strive to be united and share love and peace at all times.
Udeze appealed to affluent Igbo citizens especially captains of industries to invest part of their business in Igbo land to enhance job opportunities as well as overall growth and development of the zone.
The speaker commended, Soludo for his unprecedented rediscovery, patronage and promotion of the Igbo native `Akwaete’ clothe which other Igbo governors are currently emulating, noting that our culture, attire and language should be our heritage.
