The South-East All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned residents against splitting votes among parties in 2027, urging them to support the ruling APC.
The party made the call in a communiqué issued after the APC South-East Stakeholders Meeting at the Presidential Hotel, Enugu, on Saturday.
Signed by key stakeholders, the communiqué appealed to sons and daughters of Igboland, at home and abroad, to embrace the APC.
It described the APC as “the most effective platform for realising our political, economic and social aspirations”.
The party stated: “We reject the scattering of votes across multiple parties, a practice that has historically diminished our influence and bargaining power.
“The people of the South-East categorically dissociate themselves from activities driven by the self-serving interests of any individual, however highly placed.”
The communiqué stressed that progress could not be achieved through “narrow personal ambitions or actions that fracture collective unity”.
It warned that such conduct would be regarded as contrary to shared aspirations and would receive neither endorsement nor support.
According to the party, leaders of the zone resolved that personal ego would no longer determine the political fate of Ndigbo.
It said the South-East would align with other zones in supporting the ruling party to negotiate better representation and protect regional interests.
The communiqué noted that political, traditional and business leaders had resolved to support the APC as the most practical party of choice.
“This decision is anchored on the transformative policies of the APC-led Federal Government and the imperative of strategic alignment,” it read in part
The party said alignment would help the zone secure a fair share of national resources, infrastructure, appointments and development.
The stakeholders pledged “total and unwavering support” for President Bola Tinubu as the sole APC presidential candidate in 2027.
They said: “We commend the significant strides of his administration, especially efforts to bridge long-standing infrastructural gaps in the South-East.”
The communiqué also praised Tinubu for elevating South-East sons and daughters to key national positions and promoting inclusive governance.
“President Tinubu’s leadership, defined by competence, results and national cohesion, has earned our deepest respect,” it added.
The party further aligned with the leadership of the South-East Governors Forum and the Progressive Governors Forum.
It pledged to mobilise all human, material and spiritual resources to deliver massive bloc votes for Tinubu across the five states.
“To achieve this, we shall intensify voter education, registration drives and unity-building efforts for an unprecedented victory,” the communiqué also read in part.
