2025 Anambra Guber: Sir Paul Chukwuma/Uzu Okagbue ready to restore dignity of governance - Okagbue

The Sir Paul Chukwuma/Uzu Okagbue Anambra governorship ambition under the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has been described as one anchored on a burning desire to refine and restore dignity to governance.

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party, Chief Uzu Okagbue made this declaration during the recent maiden International Conference of the Department of Political Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Latching onto a scholarly, consciencous and awakening presentation made by a former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, on, "Africa at Crossroads: Confronting Governance, Security and Development Challenges in the 21st Century", Okagbue  noted that Anambra State is at its own crossroads and needs to be redirected.

He said the people of Anambra state can no longer afford political mediocrity masked as tradition or be swayed by all manner of political arrangements, engineered and masterminded by the elite for their political convenience and appeasement.

"Chief Olisa Metuh, in his keynote, brought both institutional memory and contemporary clarity to bear on Nigeria’s political evolution. His paper, "Africa at Crossroads: Confronting Governance, Security and Development Challenges in the 21st Century," wasn’t just a presentation; it was a piercing call to conscience, especially for those of us in Anambra who must now reckon with our own governance challenges. His take on zoning, reframed as a mechanism for merit and capacity rather than elite appeasement, was both timely and transformative."

While noting that the International conference was a moment of deep reflection and renewed conviction, the renowned and experienced banker, said the November 8, 2025 Anambra governorship election must be different and be driven by convictions on the personalities with capacity to deliver.

According to him, the electorate must look out for depth, discipline, capacity, empathy, courage and vision, which the Sir Paul Chukwuma/Uzu Okagbue ticket represents.

"The upcoming election must be different. We must ask who has the depth, the discipline, and the courage to lead us forward."

"In that spirit, Sir Paul Chukwuma and I offer ourselves, not out of entitlement, but out of a burning desire to restore dignity to governance. We represent not just a ticket, but a commitment, to lead with conscience and to reawaken Anambra’s true promise. Let us rise to this moment.", he added.

Uzu stated that Anambra, which is home to some of Nigeria’s finest minds, deserves no less.
